Year 3 Grand Finale!

21st Dec 2018

Last week, our superstars rounded off a term of designing, evaluating and improving and spent the day creating their final chocolate packaging.

We had to explore how 2D shapes fit together to make a "net".  We then had to cut and fold as accurately as possible to make our boxes. The wrapper design had to be bold, colourful and appeal to children.

Unfortunately, the cookery part of our day didn't quite go so well! We used: flour, butter, condensed milk, vanillla extract, choclate chips and sprinkles.  Even though we chilled them over the weekend.....they didn't set!  After thinking about the instructions we followed, we come up with three possible reasons:

  1. We used too much milk.
  2. We didn't use enough flour.
  3. The melted chocolate on top made it all too soggy.

Luckily, Miss Beech came to the rescue with chocolate, rice crispies and even more chocolate!

We all enjoyed our day and couldn't believe it was actually LEARNING!
