I am very pleased to welcome you to Turves Green Primary School. The first Turves Green Elementary Mixed School opened on this site in 1938 and became part of the local community. Since that time, we have continued to grow, develop and become ‘one big, happy family’ – something that is very important to us. We now have the third generation of families in our school and welcome new families each year to become part of our work. At the heart of our work are the children in our care. We strive to make sure that they are happy, safe and secure and receive the high quality teaching and support that allows them to reach their full potential both academically and socially. Your child will have a wide range of experiences during their time at Turves Green – visits, a residential week, performances, and opportunities to learn an instrument and attend a range of after school clubs. We have a team of dedicated and professional practitioners, supportive governors, excellent facilities and a secure and happy environment in which your child can grow, develop and prosper. Our links with other professionals linked with our positive ethos has helped us earn our reputation as a truly inclusive school where all children are treated equally. In 2009, we were one of the first schools to receive a gold award for inclusion. As we grow and develop as a school, so do the chances the children have - links with international schools as well as work in the local community are helping the children become part of the world they belong to. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. Attendance I visited Turves Green Primary School for the first time four years ago when I was invited to become the Local Authority Governor. On walking around the School, I was immediately struck with how happy, confident and well-behaved the children were – a first impression that has been reinforced continually. The School is a great credit to not only the pupils, but also to the professionalism and caring approach adopted by the teaching staff, and this is evident in the educational performance and progress of the children which is of such importance to them and to their parents.
The Governors take a close interest in all School matters, liaising closely with the Head and the teaching staff generally, about the overall governance and direction of the School.
It continues to be a privilege to be associated with Turves Green Primary School.
