Our aim is that the children in our care will be happy, well balanced and enthusiastic, working in a stimulating and positive environment which will allow them to develop to their full potential in every part of their school life.
In the Early Years, children are taught across six areas of learning:
- Social and emotional development
- Communication, language and literacy
- Problem solving, reasoning and number
- Knowledge and understanding of the world
- Creative development
- Physical development.
An equal balance is given to each of the areas and the children are encouraged to learn through carefully structured activities and play, focused around their needs and interests. Learning takes place in the classroom, in the outdoor learning area and in the local community. |

From Year One upwards, English, Maths, RE and PE are taught separately, but other subjects are taught together as part of a theme. There are plenty of opportunities for children to explore, investigate, research and develop skills for later life. They learn about health, safety and how to look after themselves. The children learn in the classroom, the ICT suite, in the school grounds and outdoor learning area as well as in the local community and further afield. They are taught in a variety of groups and their needs are met in the most appropriate way.
We have links with other schools in our area, in our country and in other countries to give the children a wider experience of the world they live in.
The children are given opportunities to learn British Sign Language in the Early Years and Key Stage One and a modern foreign language from Year 3 upwards. |
